After two scoreless frames in extras, left fielder Ava Carroll played hero to lead off the tenth inning, launching a solo home run the other way over the left field fence to break the tie as part of a 3-for-5 day with 3 runs scored. The Huskies went on to score four runs in the inning, as catcher Jadyn Glab provided the exclamation point with a two-run single to cap off an impressive series in her home state.

The junior went 3-for-6 on the day with 5 runs batted in, adding her seventh home run of the season with a two-run blast in the third inning. Coach Heather Tarr's team also saw a stellar performance from freshman outfielder Kaycie Burdick, who had a career-high 4 hits, scored 2 runs, and knocked in another as she raised her batting average to a team-high .435.

However, no matter what the Huskies did at the plate, the Hawkeyes battled back every time, led by a two-run home run from third baseman Avery Jackson and a 3-for-5 day with a pair of runs scored from first baseman Mariah Myers.

The biggest difference for Washington came in the circle. After Iowa was all over ace Morgan Reimer early, Tarr removed her after 1-plus innings, and she was replaced by freshman Allie Thomsen, who let up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts over the next 4 innings before she gave way to Arizona transfer Ryan Maddox. The lefty allowed an inherited runner to score, but worked the next 2 2/3 innings and surrendered 3 walks with 4 strikeouts.

At that point, with two outs in the eighth inning, Reimer re-entered and allowed just one baserunner over the final 2 1/3 innings to earn her nation-leading 19th win of the season. She finished her day with 4 runs allowed (3 earned) on 6 hits with a strikeout over 3 1/3 innings pitched.

Seriyah Ness was a workhorse for the Hawkeyes on Sunday, but after working 9 1/3 innings, she took the loss and dropped to 9-4 on the season after giving up 9 runs (8 earned) on 14 hits with 2 walks and a strkeout.

With the win, the Huskies improved to 30-6 on the season and remained perfect in Big Ten play at 12-0. Next, they'll hit the road once again and head to Palo Alto, California, for a matchup with Saint Mary's at 2:00 p.m. PT on Thursday, April 2.
