Min Woo Lee still has an outside chance of defending his Texas Children’s Houston Open title that he won last year.

The Australian posted a third round score of three-under-par 67 on Saturday at the Houston Open, and will head into the final round on Sunday six shots adrift of the leader, Gary Woodland.

His game is tailor-made for this golf course, thanks to his incredible length off the tee and his impeccable short game.

However, Min Woo Lee struggled to keep pace with the leaders at the Houston Open on day three.

However, Memorial Park is definitely there for the taking for anyone who’s hitting it long and straight and is rolling their rock on the greens.

Maybe it will be Min Woo’s turn to go low on Sunday.

What made Min Woo Lee uncomfortable on day three of the Houston Open

Min Woo Lee addressed the media after his third round 67 at Memorial Park.

The Australian was asked to sum up his third round in Houston on Saturday.

Yeah, it was — I guess the result was not too bad and where I finished kind of on the leaderboard wasn’t terrible, Min Woo Lee explained.

It felt very uncomfortable. Didn’t feel like I had my good game all day, but I think it was just one of those days. The greens are getting more baked and you just can’t get as comfortable as you want to.

It’s getting a little bit firmer. It’s playing a little bit different. So I think our group, we were plodding along, but none of us got anything going, unlike the two leaders.

Min Woo was then asked to share specifically why he felt so uncomfortable out on the golf course.

Yeah, just a little different conditions. The pins were in pretty tricky spots, he responded.

Yeah, it’s just a course where it played pretty long today, too. Completely different wind as well. We went from like a south wind to a north wind, so all the par 5s played into the wind, knockdown wind.

Yeah, played a little tricky. I would start with there and then yeah, the greens just got baked. Like for me, comfortability on the greens was not very high with the confidence. I’ll go sort it out afterwards.

The thing with Min Woo is that he can catch fire at any time and shoot an incredibly low score, so he’s certainly not out of the tournament just yet.

Min Woo Lee’s Houston Open stats

It is no surprise that the long-hitting Aussie has been one of the best drivers of the ball at Memorial Park this week.

He is ranked fourth in strokes gained off the tee after three rounds of the Houston Open.

His iron play has been pretty solid as well and he is ranked 19th in strokes gained approach so far this week.

As per usual, Min Woo’s short game has been on point, and he is ranked 13th in strokes gained around the green after three rounds of the Houston Open.

However, putting is one part of his game that hasn’t been great this week. It hasn’t been bad, but he definitely needs to hole more putts if he is to have any chance of winning on Sunday.

He is currently ranked 45th in strokes gained on the greens.

Who knows, maybe Min Woo Lee is saving up all of his putts for the final round of the Houston Open on Sunday!
