Earlier reports had already indicated that FIFA would step in if the Brazilian’s absence crossed the 28-day threshold.
Since that condition will be met, it would activate the governing body’s Club Protection Scheme, which compensates clubs when players are injured during international duty and remain unavailable for an extended period.
How much will Barcelona receive?
The structure of this compensation is straightforward but quite underwhelming.
As per Mundo Deportivo, from April 23 onwards, Barcelona will receive a daily payment of €20,548 until Raphinha is medically cleared to return.
The policy includes a maximum coverage period of 365 days and a financial cap of €7.5 million.
However, if the winger returns within the expected five-week recovery window, around April 28 or 29, Barcelona will receive approximately €143,836.

While that may appear significant at first glance, it is widely viewed as insufficient given the sporting impact of his absence.
This is because Raphinha is a key figure in the attacking setup under Hansi Flick.
Losing him at this stage of the season creates a gap that cannot simply be filled through financial compensation.
The timing of the injury makes the situation even more damaging, as Barcelona are entering a crucial run of fixtures, including three major clashes against Atletico Madrid.
Beyond that, there is also a strong possibility that Raphinha could miss the first leg of a potential semi-final, should Barcelona progress.
