· Yahoo Sports
The Cleveland Browns have a massive need to fill at wide receiver, and they could just reach down to Ohio State in the 2026 NFL Draft and select Carnell Tate.

NFL media legend Greg Cosell has been evaluating players in the NFL for over 46 years. He has seen thousands upon thousands of players take the field, so he has an eye for talent. According to Cosell, Browns' potential draft target Tate is still his number one wide receiver, despite the perceived flaws in his game.
Tate's tape is incredible. He is one of the best pure wide receivers in all of college football, and he got that title thanks to an incredibly diverse set of skills. Tate is a route technician; he wins with his football IQ, his leverage, the way he sets up his moves, and then he catches everything that is thrown his way.
He is a special talent, and because of that, his slower 40-yard dash shouldn't scare the Cleveland Browns away. Cosell went into some pretty good detail talking about Tate never needing to rely upon straight-line speed at the college level and really leaning into the fact that he has every route in his bag. He is unafraid to go across the middle of the field and is always a big play waiting to happen.
“He was very much of a vertical receiver at Ohio State this past season but I'm not sure he can be THAT in the league…”

Tate makes the Browns' NFL Draft decision a tough one
The Browns have an awfully tough decision to make in just a few short weeks. With two first-round picks and several needs, the Browns basically need to decide which they want to prioritize first, either wide receiver or tackle. Whatever they do first, they will turn around and should at least do the opposite second.
If Cleveland wants to prioritize wide receiver, then Carnell Tate is going to make the short trip up I71 from Columbus to Berea and will immediately become the Browns' most dangerous weapon on offense. He would join a young, yet very exciting bunch featuring former teammate Quinchon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, Harold Fannin Jr, Isaiah Bond, and, of course, Shederu Sanders.
That would be a fun group, but if the Browns decide they want to go line first, they wouldn't be met with much opposition. Cleveland needs a lot of help, and if that's the route they take, then Tate will tear up the NFL for another franchise.
Carnell Tate has what it takes to be a star in this league, and the Browns should take a long, hard look at him before going another direction.
