Cops nab Edmonton man, 19, wanted for two GTA murders

A 19-year-old Edmonton man wanted for murders in both Vaughan and Toronto was arrested in Calgary on Thursday.
York Regional Police thanked the media, the public and the Calgary Police Fugitive Team for their assistance in locating Isaiah Thomas Badger, who was wanted as a second suspect for first-degree murder and arson causing damage to property in a Vaughan fatal shooting.

The first suspect, Jacob “Baby Face” Wallace, 19, of Mississauga, was nabbed in the Northern Ontario town of Moosonee earlier this month and is believed to be the wheelman in the murder.
York Regional Police said on Jan. 26, 2026, around 1 p.m., officers were called to a commercial plaza in the area of Winges Rd. and Rowntree Dairy Rd. after receiving reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, a man was located in front of a business with multiple gunshot wounds and he was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The victim was later identified as 65-year-old Richmond Hill resident Sergio Lopes who its believed was targeted for death.
The arson causing damage to property charge is in connection with a black SUV believed to be involved in the shooting that was later found set ablaze on Kipling Ave. north of Woodbridge Ave.

Badger accused of second murder at Woodbine Shopping Centre
Meanwhile, Badger was also wanted by Toronto Police on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder in the Feb. 7, 2026, homicide of 37-year-old Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar in another targeted killing.
That day, around 3:26 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting in the parking lot of Woodbine Shopping Centre in the Rexdale Blvd. and Hwy. 27 area.
It’s alleged that officers arrived on scene and located a male victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
