The Marty Supreme actor followed this week's Oscars ceremony by taking to Instagram to post an image of an updated take on the classic sci-fi character today. It was a surprise reveal that was quickly followed by a collection of character posters as Warner Bros. teases the premiere of its first trailer tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET on TikTok. You can see images of Chalamet as Paul, Zendaya as Chani, Robert Pattinson as Scytale, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia, and more in the slideshow below.

The unexpected image drop arrives as the first real look at the long-awaited third film since Dune: Part Two wormed its way into theaters in 2024. The film last saw Paul naming himself emperor as he claimed the throne and prepared for a destructive holy war. It was an explosive event that teased a similarly explosive follow-up with Dune 3, and we’re closer than ever to seeing how it will deliver.

Warning! Spoilers for Dune 3 follow.

We currently know little about how Dune 3 will continue the trilogy or how it may pull from the events of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. What we do know is that Twilight and The Batman star Robert Pattinson will appear in the film as the villain, Scytale.

“When I was doing Dune it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn’t question anything,” he said when casually confirming his involvement to IndieWire late last year. “And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis [Villeneuve]: ‘Whatever you want!’”

He added, “I actually found it relaxing. Now I’m taking that into other roles.”

Jason Momoa, who played Duncan Idaho in the 2021 first installment, is also back for Dune 3. Deadline reported last summer that Ida Brooke and Momoa’s son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, had also joined the film’s cast to play Chani (Zendaya) and Paul’s children, Ghanima and Leto II.

Dune 3 will share a release date with Avengers: Doomsday when it premieres December 18, 2026. While we wait to see more from Villeneuve’s latest, you can catch up on who beat Chalamet for Best Actor and other highlights from the 98th Academy Awards. You can also see what else to expect from the third Dune movie while we wait for a trailer.
