Punters turned out in force for the last day of the Cheltenham Festival. [PA Media]

Friday 13th proved lucky for some as excited punters filled up Cheltenham Racecourse for the final day of its famous festival.

Layers were the order of the day as racegoers braved a chilly few hours in the stands, with many opting to don their beer jackets as well.

Gaelic Warrior and jockey Paul Townend left the competition in the dust in the race's most anticipated event, the Gold Cup.

And for those sharper at spotting famous faces than form on the field, there were celebrities aplenty as well as the odd royal in attendance.

Record breaker: Jockey Paul Townend celebrates netting an historic fifth Gold Cup win with Gaelic Warrior. The pair cruised to victory eight lengths ahead of the field.
