Per multiple reports on Thursday, March 12, former Cardinals wide receiver Willie Snead IV has been hired as an offensive quality control coach for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League.

The move reunites him with Broncos head coach Sean Payton, who Snead played under for three seasons with the New Orleans Saints. The Ball State Hall of Famer compiled 281 receptions for 3,445 yards and 16 touchdowns during his decade-long NFL career as a member of the Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins.

"(Shoutout) to Sean P and the staff for blessing me with an opportunity to get into the coaching world," Snead said in a post to X after his hire was announced. "Super excited for what the future holds! God is Good!"

Snead played for Ball State from 2011-2013 and became perhaps the greatest receiver in program history. He ranks second on the program's all-time receiving yards and touchdowns leaderboards with 2,991 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns and ranks third in program history in receptions with 223. He is one of two Cardinals to have two 1,000 yard receiving seasons in his Ball State career and was a two-time all-MAC First Team selection.

After bypassing his senior season to enter the draft, Snead went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft and bounced around between the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers as a free agent before catching on in New Orleans in Payton's offense.

Snead has remained engaged with Ball State football on social media and spent the 2025 season as a guest host of the fan-run podcast, "Ball State of the Union." He was recently inducted into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2025.
