Vanderbilt wins, gets double bye in SEC Tournament
· Yahoo Sports
Vanderbilt led wire-to-wire Saturday afternoon and beat Tennessee 86-82, completing its regular season with a 24-7 record, 11-7 in the SEC. The 24 regular season wins is the most for the Commodores since the 2007-08 team, which went into the SEC Tournament with a 25-6 record (let’s not talk about what happened after that.)
And Florida’s win at Kentucky on Saturday afternoon ensures that the Commodores will be the 4-seed in next week’s SEC Tournament. Vanderbilt will finish tied with Tennessee and, possibly, Texas A&M for fourth place but wins all tiebreakers thanks to its win over Alabama in January. This will be the first time since 2012 that Vanderbilt will get a top-four seed in the tournament and seeded directly into the quarterfinals. The Commodores will play on Friday afternoon in the second game of the day.

Finally, today’s win means that for the first time in school history, Vanderbilt’s football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball teams have all won at Tennessee in the same academic year. This has caused much consternation to the east.
