The seven-time world champion is expected to benefit from the new regulations, after struggling to adapt his driving style during the previous era. There’s growing belief that the changes could play right into his hands this time around.

Ferrari went winless throughout 2025, and Hamilton failed to reach the podium for the first time in a calendar year. Even he called it a nightmare season, and it showed in his body language all year long. But heading into 2026, things seem very different.

Hamilton has said he feels even more confident going into this season. Ferrari are now paying closer attention to his technical input, and some of the new SF-26 features might give him a car capable of winning again.

Johnny Herbert believes Hamilton will be a force in 2026, pointing to his mental resilience and ability to adapt. And according to Kravitz, that change is already visible, something he noticed around the paddock at the Australian Grand Prix.

Speaking on Ted’s Podbook for Sky Sports F1, he said: “Cast your mind back six months ago, or maybe a little bit more when Lewis Hamilton was having some of the trials and tribulations and qualifying and maybe not getting the result he wanted in the race. We saw down Lewis, didn’t we?”

“We saw negative Lewis and some things. They should look for another driver and stuff that none of us want to hear, none of his fans, none of Formula 1 fans want to hear. He is the GOAT after all.

Kravitz then continued: “And then a really interesting transformation seems to have happened over the winter.” Rachel Brookes replied: “Great attitude, great example as well,” with Kravitz adding: “It’s amazing.”

Brookes then concluded by saying: “To wrap it up, throw it away and find something in you that means that you’re not going to let that happen to you again.”

Is Lewis Hamilton taking a risk by doubling down at Ferrari in 2026?

Hamilton looks more motivated, and Ferrari have looked sharp in pre-season testing. It could be a strong combination for 2026. But not everyone is convinced.

Nick Heidfeld believes Charles Leclerc will come out ahead of Hamilton this season. Even with the improvements, beating his teammate at Ferrari won’t be straightforward.

The 41-year-old still has his sights set on becoming F1’s first eight-time world champion and wants to finish on his own terms. There was constant speculation about his future in 2025, with exit clauses being in his contract for 2026, but Hamilton is committed to staying in the sport.

However, some within the paddock believe that Hamilton is ‘deluding himself’ by remaining in Formula One and chasing another title, arguing that it’s affecting how people view him. Since losing to Max Verstappen in 2021, he hasn’t managed to get back to that level.
