The Los Angeles Rams lost in the NFC Championship to the Seattle Seahawks, thanks in part to Sam Darnold being able to beat the Rams' struggling cornerbacks.

Now in the offseason, and with Matthew Stafford coming back, it's time for the Rams to go all-in for what could be Stafford's final season. If they do, cornerback should be very high on their list of priorities.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz agrees, as he projects the Rams to land a 6-foot-2 Kansas City Chiefs cornerback this offseason to address this major need.
Rams projected to sign Chiefs CB to bolster shaky room
"The Rams are going to have some changes in the secondary next season," Schatz writes. "Watson is a talented corner with the size (6-2, 197 pounds) to press and the awareness to play zone coverage. He had a phenomenal coverage DVOA in six games in 2024, then was above average (40th out of 98 qualifying) in a full season in 2025."
With some major holes in the cornerback room and the potential for Darious Williams to be a cap casualty, the Rams will need to add multiple corners this offseason.
Adding someone like Watson, who, as Schatz notes, is a great coverage cornerback in both man and zone, would be a great way to bolster this shaky room.

Watson was a 2022 seventh-round pick by the Chiefs, and he helped them win two Super Bowls during his four-years with the team. He has five interceptions in his NFL career, two in the playoffs, and one a 99-yard pick-six.
He's recorded exactly six passes defended every year of his career. Combined with a very strong 79.0 passer rating against last season, the Rams should target Watson this offseason.
Since the Chiefs have a massive contract on the horizon for Trent McDuffie, Watson should be able to hit the open market. And if he does, the Rams should strongly pursue him as he'd be a great fit for the defense in 2026.
