General manager Darren Mougey is tasked with getting creative this offseason. There is no straightforward option available.

The Jets could sign a free-agent quarterback like Malik Willis. They could trade for a veteran on the move like Kyler Murray or Tua Tagovailoa. Mougey could target a quarterback in the 2026 NFL draft like Ty Simpson or Garrett Nussmeier. Those are some of the options on the table for the Jets this offseason.

Another quarterback who should garner consideration is Philadelphia Eagles backup Tanner McKee. The Eagles drafted McKee in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft. The former Stanford standout has performed admirably when afforded an opportunity to play.

The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt and Connor J. Hughes recently discussed the possibility.

McKee appeared in four NFL games for the Eagles in 2025. He completed 55.8 percent of his passing attempts for 274 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He obviously doesn't have a path to becoming a starting quarterback in Philadelphia, with Jalen Hurts there.

The Eagles could field interest in trading McKee this offseason.

The Jets are among the teams weighing all options at quarterback. Mougey should do his due diligence.
