7 edge rushers for Packers fans to watch at the NFL combine

· Yahoo Sports

The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine week is upon us, with on-field drills and exercises slated to start on today, with the kickers, linebackers and defensive line groups scheduled to take the field.

The Green Bay Packers will likely be in the market for one edge rusher during the 2026 NFL Draft. Let's take a look at seven edge rushers for Packers fans to keep tabs on this week.

George Gumbs Jr, Florida

A transfer from Northern Illinois, where he started his career at tight end before converting to defensive end in 2023. Gumbs then transferred to Florida for the 2024 season and recorded eight tackles for loss and five sacks. This past season, the former tight end recorded 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Gumbs looks good off the bus and I'll be fascinated to see his measurements and how he tests this week. As the Packers look for more depth at defensive end, Gumbs could be a Day 3 swing.

Logan Fano, Utah

A Day 3 edge rusher who the Packers could target. Fano is a well-rounded defensive end. He sets a sturdy edge against the run and rushes the passer with relentless energy. The Utah product finished the season with 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 34 pressures and 23 run stops.

Jaishawn Barham, Michigan

Think of Collin Oliver, but more explosive. Barham started the season at linebacker before making the switch to edge rusher. He's twitched up and finished this past season with 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, 21 pressures and 24 run stops. His measurements will be notable. He was listed at 6-3, 243 pounds. Normally I'd say that's too light for the Packers, but they just took Oliver on Day 3 a year ago and he was 6-1 and 240 pounds. As the Packers look for more playmakers on defense, Barham could be a potential target on Day 3 of the draft.

Gabe Jacas, Illinois

If the NFL were to set up a machine to show how much force was behind a Jacas' punch, it would probably read off the charts, much like Ivan Drago. "Whatever he hits, he destroys." Jacas is a powerful edge rusher with adequate quickness. The Illinois product recorded 26.5 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, 85 pressures and 61 run stops during his final two seasons. If the Packers take an edge rusher with the 52nd overall pick, it will likely be Jacas.

Max Llewellyn, Iowa

The 6-5, 255-pound defensive end figures to be a player the Packers target on Day 3 of the draft as they look to bolster their pass rush. Llewellyn rushes the passer with energy and outstanding closing burst to the quarterback. His spin move is his bread and butter. He finished this past season with 6.5 sacks and 45 pressures.

Tyreak Sapp, Florida

The former four-star recruit is a powerful edge rusher. He plays with natural force to break into the backfield. Sapp was a bit of a disappointment this past season. After what he put on tape in 2024, I was very excited to see how he could build off his 13 tackles for loss and seven sacks season. Instead, his production fell flat and I'm excited to hear how he interviews and see how he tests and does in on-field drills this week. He's a player whom the Packers could be high on when the fifth or sixth round rolls around.

Caden Curry, Ohio State

Curry is a well-rounded player with a motor that never turns off. He makes an impact against the run and as a pass rusher. The Ohio State defensive end is a stout run defender and sets a firm edge. Curry doesn't have ideal length and with his shorter arms, he could be off Green Bay's board. It will be interesting to see his measurements. However, if he is there in the fifth round, it may be hard to pass up his skill set.
