Retired All-Pro safety blasts NFL over public report card ban

Last week, the NFL sent a memo to all league clubs outlining a victory in a grievance against the NFLPA regarding the player union's annual publication of team report cards, in which players would grade their working environments. Moving forward, the union is no longer permitted to publish the report card results publicly.

It's a move that has proven unpopular with many former players and NFL media members, and joining that list is former NFL safety Tyrann Mathieu. Known affectionately by fans as "the Honey Badger" for his aggressive style of play, he starred in the NFL for 12 years before retiring last offseason. Recently, on his In The Bayou podcast, Mathieu voiced his discontent over the report card decision.

"That's typical people in power. They want to do all this backdoor s***, they want to do all this slimeball s***, but they don't want you to know," Mathieu said.
"I think that's really the issue. A lot of these people, they made a lot of money, they've done well, they've created successful businesses, and they don't want to be held accountable. They really want yes men around them. I think anytime that they get challenged from that perspective, they always send the lawyers at you...I think it's just a bad look on the owners, man. At some point, you have to take accountability and responsibility for all the decisions you make."
