Anele Mdoda is under fire over her strong views calling for the death penalty of the four individuals accused of murdering Nigerian Bolt driver Isaac Satlat. This comes a year after her own horror e-hailing experience.

Satlat was killed by passengers in a disturbing video caught on a dash cam last week.

Bolt South Africa confirmed that Satlat was not a registered driver and had used another person’s profile to earn an income.

ANELE MDODA REACTS TO MURDER OF NIGERIAN BOLT DRIVER

On her X account, Anele Mdoda reacted to a post about the murder of Isaac Satlat, a Nigerian immigrant who had illegally become a Bolt driver.

The 22-year-old was strangled to death by two individuals who had requested a ride via the e-hailing app. Three of the accused appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 February, on charges of murder and hijacking. A fourth has since been arrested.

The 947 Breakfast Show presenter tweeted about the alleged killers: “No, they deserve to die. I’m sorry, but they don’t belong on earth. Why kill him? Why? No, they must be executed”.

While many agreed that the young man’s death was unnecessary, many condemned Anele Mdoda’s “selective outrage”, particularly about foreign nationals.

Some accused Anele of not using her platform to speak out about illegal immigrants who had committed heinous crimes in South Africa.

Others reminded her of her own experience at the hands of a foreign Uber driver, in which the public had offered her support.

Here is what a few had to say…

UBER RIDE FROM HELL

Last February, Anele Mdoda shared footage of her horror Uber trip over the weekend, in which a driver threatened her with rape.

The radio and TV personality had requested the e-hailing trip from the airport to her hotel in Cape Town.

She tweeted: “My @uber driver tonight was upset that I had picked the don’t talk to me option. He then said, ‘In my country, we would rape you to teach you a lesson. ’ I had to fake being on Instagram Live to get home safe.

She continued: “Then when he got to my hotel, he started shouting at me, and I really recorded, and this is what ensued…”

Anele said a couple came to her aid, who observed that she was “under duress.”

In the clip, she tells the Uber driver, “You threatened me the whole way back here. I am recording you on purpose.” The driver appeared hostile, demanding she exit his white Mercedes-Benz.

In another tweet, Anele revealed she would press criminal charges against the Uber driver.

In a statement to The South African, an Uber spokesperson stated that Anele Mdoda’s experience was “completely unacceptable and we have zero tolerance for this behaviour”.

Uber vowed to launch an investigation and take action against the driver.
