The Atlanta Hawks were among the most active franchises during this season’s NBA trade deadline.

In addition to trading Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, Atlanta acquired Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga in a trade sending Kristaps Porzingis to the Golden State Warriors.

The offseason will give the Hawks another opportunity to make beneficial moves to help shape their future. In a stunning proposed trade crafted by ClutchPoints, the Hawks would land a 24-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves superstar.

“Ant (Anthony Edwards) was talking to Jalen Johnson when he said, ‘I can't wait to come home... y'all got so many wings," ClutchPoints stated on Instagram. "Edwards is originally from Atlanta, so some speculate he could just be talking about going home and eating some wings.”

“But on the flip side, some think he could be talking about coming to the Hawks in the near future. They do have a plethora of wings, including Johnson, Kuminga, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker."

"Let's say Ant wanted to leave Minnesota. He's in the midst of a 5-year, $244 million contract, and is due to make $48.9 million next season.”

“To trade for him, the Hawks would need a massive trade offer. Right now, they'll receive the more favorable of the Pelicans' or Bucks' 2026 1st rounders. That Pelicans pick could be in the top 5. If you combine that with future 1st round picks, players like Zaccharie Risacher, Onyeka Okongwu, and others. A giant package could start to form.”

Considering Edwards has a good thing going in Minnesota, it’s unlikely he’ll entertain the idea of leaving the Timberwolves anytime soon. Minnesota has reached the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back seasons and will only get better with time.

Atlanta, on the other hand, is a rebuilding franchise that doesn't have all the pieces necessary to transition swiftly into win-now mode. Why would Edwards be interested in joining an organization that is further from winning a championship than Minnesota?

The answer is he probably wouldn’t be, making ClutchPoints’ trade idea a fantasy instead of a realistic offseason scenario.
