Alex Cora Issues Strong Message To Red Sox As Spring Training Gets Underway
· Yahoo Sports
The Boston Red Sox didn’t necessarily have the offseason they were hoping for, but expectations surrounding this team are still very high. Manager Alex Cora has his work cut out for him during Spring Training, as he will be tasked with paring through the players at his disposal and finding a way to construct the best 26-man roster possible.

As of right now, the Sox have a very unbalanced roster on paper. They have serious areas of strength, such as their starting rotation and the outfield, but there are also areas of weakness, such as the infield and the bullpen, particularly when it comes to left-handed relievers.
Cora will be tasked with putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, and as he has proven throughout his career, he is pretty good at finding a way to do that. Even though it’s only Spring Training, Cora has his sights set on winning a World Series, and he found a unique way to motivate his players to do just that, even though it is only February.
“The baseball season is very similar to a marathon,” Cora said when addressing the team. “We haven’t finished the race in a while as an organization … We have to finish the race, but it starts now.”
The Red Sox have not won the World Series since 2018, but it appears as if they are a team on the rise. After making an unexpected postseason appearance last year, Boston has a strong young core that is set to lead the way for years to come.
Cora knows what it takes to win it all, and it starts before the season even begins. The Sox need a strong foundation that they can build off of as the year unfolds, and if the players respond to Cora’s message, that could lead to the team surprising a lot of folks in 2026.
